Storms River - BEST DAY EVER!

Today was our first full day in the national park and oh wow it did not disappoint, I can honestly say it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen (I feel I'll be saying that a lot on this blog).

We had a delicious breakfast at our b&b Andalomi Forest Lodge setting us up for the day. We headed off for the mouth of Storms River, I didn't really know what to expect so within 2 mins of paying the R108pp entrance fee my jaw had well and truly dropped!

We had picked up a leaflet for the Kayaking and Lilo trip which was a little out of our price range at R550pp roughly £25-£30 plus wetsuit hire) but as soon as we saw the first kayak-ers head off we knew this wasn't to be missed. We booked the afternoon slot so we could explore what else the park had to offer.

We saw stunning beaches, suspension bridges, forests and wildlife all of which was breathtaking (as cliche as that sounds) and took hundreds of pictures. Later it was our slot  for the kayaking so we had a quick salad and burger and headed back over to get suited up, still wet from the previous occupant and Adrian kindly pointed out they could of pee'd in it. After a brief briefing on how to manoeuvre our way around the kayak we set off into the ocean. Our route was out to the ocean and then into the mouth of the river. The  closest thing I can compare it to was if you have ever seen Jurassic park (in particular the latest one) and just the incredible beauty of the  whole setting. Adrian said he would compare it to Lord of the Rings, for those who havent seen JP.

We parked up the kayaks and set off for paddle around with the lilos, the water was 9ft deep and apparently there were juvenile rays, sharks and other fish lurking at the bottom. Adrian was the first to volunteer to stand on the lilo but when it came to cliff jumping from about 3 meters high he got to the top and bottled it saying he "forgot he was scared of heights". We then paddles back out the mouth and into the open ocean before heading back to shore.

Overall it was an incredible experience and if you ever find yourself in storms River I highly recommend !
